Jagannath Rath Yatra, the chariot festival organized by ISKCON Convention Centre, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangalore last weekend was the cynosure of all eyes. The colourfully lit chariot was adorned by the deities of Their Lordships Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra Devi.
As over 1500 aficionados pulled the chariot singing and dancing through the streets of South Bangalore, many passersby joined the exhilarating experience. Prasadam was distributed to over 6000 people during the Rath Yatra. Classes by His Holiness Bhakti Purushottam Swami and His Holiness Bhakti Vinod Swami gave devotees the spiritual nourishment that they always yearn for.
Foot-tapping fusion kirtan, ‘Vedic Walk’, dance, plays, puppet show, booths offering face painting and henna, matchless gifts, games, food court and more; the grand two-day Jagannath Habba Celebrations organized at the temple premises had all the elements of a spiritual carnival. Young and old alike participated in ‘Vedic Walk’. The participants walked the ramp in Vedic costumes depicting characters from Mahabharata and transported the audience back in time as scenes of the epic unraveled.
The atmosphere was one of jubilation and everyone who had assembled was swept away by the euphoria of the festival.
Hare Krishna.
