On April 27, 2014 devotees from all over Bangalore assembled at Sri Sri Narasimha Giridhari Mandir (ISKCON Bangalore) for the celebration of a massive “Festival of Kirtana”. The Festival was dedicated to Srila Vrindavana Dasa Thakura and Sri Gadadhara Pandita.

Festival of Kirtana features singing, dancing and honouring prasadam. The process of chanting, dancing and feasting on prasadam was introduced by Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu almost 500 ago as the authorized process of God realization for the present fallen age of Kali.

Lord Chaitanya systematically staged gigantic Hare Krishna festivals in which hundreds and thousands of people would sing and dance for days together, feasting on spiritual food and thus feeling fully satisfied, realizing the transcendental pleasure of Krishna consciousness.

In spreading the sankirtana movement, Lord Chaitanya set the perfect example for anyone who aspires to become a devotee of Krishna and thus attain an eternal life of bliss and knowledge. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was not concerned with acquiring self-esteem, many followers, or a great reputation, but wherever He went He always chanted the holy name of Krishna: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. Even though He is in fact the Supreme Person, He presented Himself with a meek and humble attitude. Thus He gained the respect of everyone He met and convinced everyone to join Him in sankirtana.

HG Haripada Prabhu lead the kirtana, the entire atmosphere was surcharged by the sweet names of the Lord. The exquisite beauty of the deities captured everyone’s heart.

Devotees took this opportunity to offer new padukas to Their Lordships Sri Sri Gandharvika Giridhari. Panchagavya abhishekam was offered to the padukas and then offered to the Lord.

Following the footsteps of great acharyas in order to please Their Lordships Sri Sri Gandharvika Giridhari, devotees at Sri Narasimha Giridhari Temple holds “festival of kirtana” every month.
