His Grace Kumunda Dasa, initiated by Srila Prabhupada approximately 1974 departed this world at 10:08 pm Aug 3 in Eugene, Oregon. He was surrounded by his wife Dhanishta dasi, his son Bali Prabhu, daughter Manjari dasi, sister-in-law Papaharini dasi and her son Vasudeva Prabhu, while a lively kirtan was going on. 4th stage cancer was discovered about 6 weeks ago, and Kumunda lived his last days peacefully with little pain almost to the very end. Kumunda served in Los Angeles and Laguna after joining very young, about 16 years old. He spent about a year serving in Mayapur approximately 1975. A sweet and gentle soul, he survived his older brother Kundara’s passing from cancer who was also an initiated devotee. Surrounded by loving family and a loud Harinam Kirtan, he departed very auspiciously, with a very bright future ahead indeed, by the blessings of Srila Prabhupada’s mission, mercy, and the appreciation of his devoted family and friends.
