My Sweet Lord Tribute to George

by Administrator / 4 Dec 2014 / Published in Message Board  /

Bhajahari das: Last Saturday Night, the 29th of November, over 100 devotees gathered here in London to celebrate and acknowledge George Harrison’s unique contribution to the Krsna Consciousness Movement.

These gatherings have been going on every year since George passed away 13 years ago.

Due to Saksi Gopal prabhus dedication, the programme gets better and better all the time.

The evening is very informal. Everyone is invited to sing a song or to speak some words of appreciation.

This year was almost certainly the best celebration to date.

There were several songs from the ‘usual suspects’. Trilokanatha, Saksi Gopal, Divya Simha, Bhakta Matty Tribangananda (Handle Me With Care) and some others.

But most agreed that the highlights were 3 of George’s most important Hits, ‘Something’ ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ and a finale of the joyous ‘My Sweet Lord’ performed by Mikey and Luke. One half of the popular local band,

‘Late Day Breakers’ (see video)

The evening always concludes with the same Prasada each year. A delicious autumnal feast of pea soup, freshly made buttered bread rolls and roasted chestnuts.

If you did not manage to make it this year, please make a note to attend next. It is always on the the actual day that George departed.

The 29th of November.
