Mumbai City Celebrates Rath Yatra in More than 25 places each year. It seems that Lord Jagannath is reaching every nook and corner of Mumbai City to bestow his unlimited mercy. This is only possible due to causless mercy of Srila Prabhupada and all Guru Maharaj. Thank to devotees from Mumbai ISKCON temples and Mumbai preaching centers.
This Rath Yatra festival is celebrated in more than 25 places in Mumbai City. These Places include Juhu, Mira Road, Kharghar, Dadar, Colaba, Nagpada, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane, Charkop, Kandivali, Borivali, Malad, Goregaon, Bandra, Bhayander, Vasai, Nalasopara, Kalyan, Mahalaxmi, Worli, Andheri, Dahisar, Dombivali, Palghar, Wada, Vashi etc
The Rath yatra festival has been traditionally celebrated annually in Jagannath Puri, Orissa, where Lord Jagannath along with His sister Subhadra and elder brother Baladeva paraded through the streets of the city. This practice and festival still takes place in Puri, since the late sixties all over the world.
The first Rath yatra outside India was initiated by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (founder of ISKCON) on July 9, 1967 in San Francisco. The Lord of the Universe (Lord Jagannath) now parade in major cities all over the world such as London, Paris, New York, Durban, Rome, etc.
People around the globe are becoming attracted to the joyful and colorful Rath yatra festival. Thousands devotees come on the streets to pull the giant chariots, chant and dance and enjoy tasty prasad which brings real peace and joy to all devotees.
It seems that Lord Jagannath is very merciful to Mumbaikars, as in Metro City like Mumbai where people do not have time to visit temples, The Lord himself comes out unfailing like year on the streets of Mumbai to shower his limitless mercy.
