Today ISKCON Desire Tree ( ISKCONDesireTree.com )
unveiled a partnership with Naimisa, allowing devotees to access 24,000 + classes on their cell phones worldwide.
ISKCON Desire Tree was founded in 2003 by Vaishnavaseva Dasa (RNS) and currently has 21 full-time devotees adding and managing available content on the site. Naimisa was
founded in 2014 by Venu Madhava Dasa (RNS) and wife Kala Nipuna Devi Dasi (BTS). Venu Madhava, a former Vice President at Barclays Bank, upon moving to Alachua, partnered
with a former Morgan Stanley Vice President, Lilananda Dasa (ACBSP), in order to expand and improve Naimisa.
Venu Madhava explained they wanted to partner with someone who understood the growing popularity of cell phones over computers to access the Internet, and felt the need for
an app tailored to devotional audio in order to fulfill our primary need to hear devotional content anytime, anywhere. That’s why he invested his Wall Street business and technical knowledge in Naimisa.
Lilananda has built a reputation of leadership in the technology industry since the late 1980s. He worked at Smith Barney for five years and later for Morgan Stanley as
an officer of the firm for over ten years, in the areas of global contract negotiations, leading edge technology implementation, and general management. He fills a much needed role as a marketing and relationship management person for Naimisa.
Vaishnavaseva says: “When we noticed our viewership of over 200,000 a month rapidly changing from personal computers to portable devices such as iPhones and iPads, we understood
that we had to quickly evolve with the times. So when Lilananda and Venu Madhava approached me to present Naimisa, I immediately recognized an opportunity to take Krishna Consciousness to every town and village in a very objective and quick manner, and in
a way we can measure it.”
The integration between ISKCON Desire Tree and Naimisa is now complete. The new and improved Naimisa is now available for free in the
App Store and the
Play Store.
Lilananda says: “We have an ambitious expansion planned for Naimisa. Our goal is to make Naimisa the companion app for bhakti practitioners anywhere in the world and in
all major languages. In addition, it is an easy way to introduce new members to the Krishna Conscious Philosophy. No matter where they are, even in places where there are no devotees or the temple is too far, they will have access to Krishna conscious content
through Naimisa.”
The ISKCON Desire Tree partnership should give Naimisa a big boost in visibility, while the new and revamped app should make it easier for users — especially new users —
to navigate different types of content and content sources. These improvements come close on the heels of a broader makeover, intended to make Naimisa an indispensable spiritual app.
