Bhagavad Gita Study Guide
Chapter 12. Q2. How does Krsna describe the devotee who is “very dear” to Him?
A. The devotee is free from material desires, material dualities and possessiveness, false ego, anxiety and envy. He is “a kind friend to all creatures,” “equal to both friends and enemies,” and “equal in both happiness and distress,” and he engages in devotional service with determination, with mind and intelligence fixed on Krsna. (12.13-20)
Thank You Vishanta Prabhu!
Annual Tofu-Turkey Pre-Thanks-Giving Vegetarian Feast Grand Success!
“Wild animals never kill for sport.” – Unknown
I would like to thank Vishanta and Madhavananda Prabhu for leading this years Pre-Thanksgiving Tofu Turkey celebration. We all enjoyed your presentation and everyone went home more conscious about how their eating choices impact the environment, health, and spiritual acumen. All the guests went home filled with the main dish along with candied carrots, sweet potato balls, yogi tea, cranberry ambrosia, and persimmon cheese cake.

During the feast the “Inconvenient Culinary Truth” documentary played on the big screen for all to ruminate about! That show can be seen in three parts found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LGrs961jik
The Ojai Valley News printed my commentary which I titled “Palliative Prevarications.” However they printed it the day after our festival and changed the title to: “Carcass Eaters will Destroy Everything!” Well… that might spark some feedback indeed!
For those who missed it in the last AVA newsletter you can find it here:

I am glad the OVNews printed it so the 40,000 in this area had a chance to rethink their dietary choices. I was contacted by several devotees about the effectiveness of such a direct and to-the-point article. The majority of you seemed to appreciate it but there are always a few who remind me that maybe articles of this nature are too strong for the local newspaper. I always welcome feedback from Vaishnava’s in regards to their own insights regarding the essays I write for the general public so… don’t hesitate to speak up and share your thoughts with me if you feel like doing so!
Guest Speaker for “Becoming Dear”
I am happy to announce that Brajarani will be leading the next AVA program. She has been practicing Krishna Consciousness for over 30 years and will sing the Damodarastaka Prayers for all to appreciate. She will then explain their spiritual significance of this traditional ceremony as we conclude the month of Kartika. Everyone will be given a chance to make a flame offering to the effigy of Lord Krishna being bound by the ropes of affection from His loving mother Yasoda!
I hope all of you who are in the area will be able to join us for this joyous and endearing celebration of Krishna Consciousness in this most enchanting way!
“Krishna Consciousness philosophy is as old as 120 million years at the least. So nothing can be compared with our philosophy either in the matter of antiquity, philosophy, ethics, science, morality, etc., all in correct vision and approved by great stalwart acaryas. So far others are concerned, they cannot be compared even.” – His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada: Letter to: Hamsaduta, 2 November, 1969
Thank You!
