Mahakarta Das: Due to the recent heavy rain showers in Sri Lanka, several areas of the country are affected. More than 60 people have died by floods; 130 people died in landslides and over 350,000 people have displaced & sheltered in various camps.
As such our Bhaktivedanta Children’s Home – Gokulam was also affected by floods and we had several damages in our children’s home premises such as the furniture & fittings, the food supplies and several other properties were damaged. Also there was no electricity at the children’s home for a week.
The cost of the damages account to around Sri Lankan Rupees 1million.
The home is currently recovering from the affects and we require the financial support from generous donors to assist our home to repair and bring the home back to running condition.
