Rath means chariot and Yatra means travel or journey and the chariot ride festival is observed as the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra to Gundicha Temple via Mausi Maa Temple, is known as Rath Yatra.
The festival originated in Puri, Odisha. The English word ‘juggernaut’ was originated from Jagannath that is related to the massive and unstoppable ‘ratha’ carrying Jagannath.
