ISKCON Birmingham is a spiritual hub, a place of spiritual solace & divine sanctuary for all people regardless of cast, creed, race, gender or background to come together to learn the art of bhakti yoga. The temple community has grown & developed into a big loving spiritual family, that come together throughout the year to hold many festivals & preaching programmes. At the centre of all these activities are our residing deities, our most beloved Sri Jagannatha Baladeva Srimati Subhadra Devi & Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. They are the focal point of all of our love combined & as an offering to them the temple holds many grand, colourful & vibrant festivals, activities & weekly programmes.
In 2014 we successfully received planning permission to extend our current temple facilities. The temple renovation has been progressing swiftly since December 2014 & we have been quite excited about the developments thus far.
The renovation will look to provide devotees more than double the previous temple room space and a sophisticated new interior based on ancient vedic designs. This interior includes bespoke flooring, arches, sculpting and paintings, which are being manufactured to the highest quality and standard in Hungary.
The cost of making this wonderful offering to the Lord is £340,000. Through donations of many wonderful devotees, we have already managed to raise £285,000. We would like to make a humble appeal to all devotees to kindly assist us in reaching the remaining £55,000.
To give something to Krishna is an extremely elevated activity – whether you give some of your time to hear and chant, some of your energy, some of your money or ultimately some of your love.
