H.H. Jayapataka Maharaj leading a safari of 200 devotees will be in Udupi (Karnataka, South India) on 22nd March 2007. On this blissful occasion, ISKCON Udupi is conducting a Ratha Yatra on 22nd March 2007. We kindly invite everyone to come and participate.

Chaitanya Charitamrta describes the visit of Lord Chaitanya to Udupi and His ecstatic dancing in front of childhood form of Krishna installed by Madhvacharya. It is a great opportunity to get the blessings of Sripad Madhvacharya.
On the day after the Ratha Yatra devotees will be visiting several holy places like Pajaka Kshetra, the birth place of Sripad Madhvacharya, Vadabandeshwar which houses a Deity of Lord Balarama, Malpe beach where Madhvacharya found the Deity of Udupi Krishna and Danda Tirtha. Scriptures tell the story of Danda Tirtha. Madhvacharya while traveling through this place wanted to quench his thirst. Not finding any source of water, he struck his sannyasa staff in the ground to make a hole and water sprung out, forming a lake. The water from this lake is said to cure diseases and rid one of sins. Till date the sannyasis of Krishna Math in Udupi, while taking on their new responsibilities first come and offer their respects to Danda Tirtha, take water from this lake all the way to Krishna Math and first bathe Krishna with this water.
Details: Ratha Yatra Inauguration at Gita Mandir at 3.00 pm, passes through Kalsanka Junction at 3.30 pm, City Bus-stand at 4.00 pm, KM Marg at 4.30 pm, proceeds towards Taluk office circle, back to Diana circle by 5.00 pm, reaches Rajangana hall of Krishna Math at 6.30 pm followed by a cultural and spiritual program. Prasadam will be served thereafter.
