Working under the inspiration of the resident deities Sri Sri Hari Haladari, the devotees at the Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mandir have undertaken the ambitious task of spreading the Holy Name throughout New York City. Many of the devotees who attend the Queens based Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mandir, have their extant social roots in the Indian diaspora; this social characteristic is also shared by nearly all the congregations, of the various orthodox Hindu temples in New York City. The mutual social origin of the aspiring devotees and potential aspirants forms the basis of a real alliance, and this in turn informs the first phase of our ambitious task. Consequently, we have begun a Sunday morning kirtan program at different Hindu temples in NYC, and our objective is to tour 108 such institutions. The program begins at 9.00 am, and so far our team of kirtaniyas has been warmly and affectionately received; in fact some of the temples have expressed a desire to have Krishna Kirtan as a regular part of their established program. This is a preaching effort, and we are inviting all devotees to attend and be a part of giving Krishna Nama to others. Further, those devotees who are musically inclined are being asked to come, and join us with their instruments and melodious voices.
