How to improve marriages in ISKCON
In your years in the movement you must have observed that the stability of marriages in our movement is less than excellent. You probably have witnessed and heard about many divorces, separations and other matrimonial issues. At the same time, of course, marriage is here to stay.
We believe that in ISKCON the only way to have stable and successful marriages is to learn and follow Srila Prabhupada’s instructions. Young men and women, before even thinking, “Who will be my husband?”, “Who will be my wife?” should deeply consider their motivations and their readiness. For this, it is ideal that devotees interested in getting married go through appropriate training. This will ensure the appropriate understanding and the awareness of their responsibility.
As Srila Prabhupada said: “Both the girls and the boys should be trained up. Then they’ll be responsible husband and wife and live peacefully.” (Room Conversation – Nouvelle Mayapur, France, 3 August 1976)
To fulfill this need, the ISKCON Congregational Development Ministry, has created an online training program that will inform and equip young devotees considering marriage. This online course, Bhakti Marriages, starts with two premarital courses – one for men and one for women.
Those who take the course will learn about Srila Prabhupada’s instructions on the subject of getting married and staying harmoniously married. They will learn that marriage is a “serious business” and what makes a marriage successful; how to wisely choose a partner, and they will be encouraged to look deeply at their commitment to such an important aspect of their lives.
We request leaders and devotees in general to share the news of this course being widely available online for everyone in ISKCON. Please help to improve marriages in ISKCON by helping the present and future generations of devotees to benefit from the direction of Srila Prabhupada’s instructions.
ISKCON Congregational Development Ministry presents Bhakti Marriages – A Premarital Course for Men and Women.
As an initiative to support the healthy development of our communities and individuals, the Congregational Development Ministry (CDM) of ISKCON is promoting Bhakti Marriages; a practical pre-marital course based on Srila Prabhupada’s instructions.
We believe that the only way to have stable and successful marriages is to learn and apply the Vaisnava principles as given to us by Srila Prabhupada. For this purpose, this much-needed course is now offered to all the devotees wanting to have a conducive, Krishna-conscious and satisfying marriage.
The course consists of over 30 lessons which systematically takes you through the different necessary aspects of the Grihastha Asrama.
