Amazing Weekend of Learning! Alachua’s Turban Making Workshop Report (Album with photos)
I experienced so much transcendental pleasure participating in the Krishna Institute’s recent Turban-Making & Face-Painting Workshop. During this workshop, devotees with no experience, alongside devotees with years of experience, underwent major increases in these devotional skills and in their knowledge of the underlying art theory principles that enable pujaris to consistently dress and decorate the deities very beautifully.
Devotees, with no understanding of wrapping a turban, made beautiful turbans at the end of the workshop. Devotees, who felt they could never paint gopi dots, became exuberant when they adorned their practice deity faces with beautiful creations.
My heartfelt thanks go to Kurma Caitanya das, Krishna Kanta das, and Jayananda das for coming to share their knowledge and expertise. I strongly recommend the ISKCON Deity Worship Ministry’s Workshops to any devotee with an inclination for deity worship. I also want to thank Kripa Sindhu das, Mahabuddhi das and Vrindavanesvari devi dasi for preparing such wonderful prasadam, which enlivened everyone, and special thanks to Vrindavanesvari Prabhu for so expertly providing all of the bhoga. My heart is filled with gratitude for the Krishna Institute’s efforts in bringing such a wonderful workshop to this community despite so many challenges.
