The devotees of ISKCON Mayapur are setting up a huge camp at Ganga Sagar, West Bengal, to facilitate the pilgrims during their visit to the place. The preparations for setting up the camp is in full swing as more than 400 enthusiastic devotees, Indians as well as foreigners have already arrived at the venue. The camp will be operational from 11th till 16th January on Road no 5 near to the helipad.
During this time the Sewa camp aims to distribute 1lakh plates of Prasadam for free to the pilgrims, informed Sundar Govind Das, in charge of Food for Life programme run by ISKCON Mayapur. It will also provide free of cost medical aid with the help of doctors of Apollo Hospitals. To beat the cold, shelters for the stay of the pilgrims have been arranged and distribution of blankets will also take place. Besides this the devotees will also hold many religious discourses and distribute 3000 spiritual books like Srimad Bhagvad Gita to the pilgrims. During the entire period for all 24 hours there will be wonderful rendition of Hari Nama Sankirtans by the devotees. ISKCON authorities expect that like every year they will be able to serve lakhs of pilgrims who visit this place during the auspicious occasion of Gangasagar Mela.
In an endeavour to preserve the heritage of the holy place and promote spiritual tourism the West Bengal Government and ISKCON have joined hands and soon Vedic Centre for Culture and Education will come up at GangaSagar. Besides this the two parties are jointly working to build a world class fountain park, community hall, light and sound exhibition to attract the visitors. An NRI, Govind Sahay Gupta has also expressed his desire to contribute to the cause.
