Departure of Vrindavan Chandra De

by Administrator / 8 Apr 2018 / Published in In Memoriam  /

The GBC EC, on behalf of the GBC body, wishes to offer its deepest respect to Sriman Vrndavan Chandra De, on the occasion of his passing from this world.

Vrndavan Chandra De was the youngest son of His Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Due to his appearance in such an exalted family, he was brought up very lovingly as a Vaisnava devotee of Lord Krsna.

When Srila Prabhupada joined the movement of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, he would host Gaudiya Math sannyasis and brahmacaris in his home at Harrison Road, Kolkata. Naturally, young Vrndavan Chandra would also avail himself of their association.

Later on, when Srila Prabhupada was staying in Mayapur, he would visit his father regularly, especially in the early seventies.

During Srila Prabhupada’s final pastimes in Vrindavan, he often came to see him. Srila Prabhupada spoke intimately and was very affectionate towards him. He also made arrangements for the welfare of his family.

During the 50th anniversary celebrations, Sriman Vrndavan Chandra De came to the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata and gave an adoring and rousing speech about his father, Srila Prabhupada.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and our gratitude to the devotees who were present to ensure that his departure was auspicious and Krsna conscious. As the son of a pure devotee, he will positively receive a destination beyond our imagination.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada. May his eternal mercy be upon Sriman Vrindavan Chandra De, and us all.
