The mercy of Sri Sri Nitai Gaurchandra has reached the farthest corner of north-east India, border of india and china.
ISKCON Gangtok with the blessings of HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj recently organized Annual Srimad Bhagavat Katha which was attended by the prominent citizens of Gangtok including the wife, the daughter-in-law and the grandson of Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling. These prominent citizens along with the Chief Ministers family were not only mere attendees; they relished the holy nectar of Krishna Katha on all eight days and engaged in the service of the lord. Also, devotees from Delhi and Mayapur joined to help in organizing the event that witnessed over 350 active participants.
The Krishna Katha was recited by His Grace Sarvabhauma Prabhu at the prangan of old Lord Shiv Temple in Deorali Baazar, Gangtok. Prabhu Ji narrated Katha in a mesmerizing manner citing various incidents from the scriptures and nourishing everyone with pastimes of Lord Krishna. Young Krishna Bhaktas associated with ISKCON Gangtok also performed dramas and dance depicting pasttimes of Krishna.
ISKCON Gangtok under the supervision of HG Madhava Kant das had made arrangement for sumptuous parsadam feast for everyone after Katha on all eight days. Special sweets were brought in from Mayapur Dham for Srimad Bhagavat Katha feast.
By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada, devotees also distributed books to several hundred devotees every day, taking the fortunate receipients a step closer to embracing Krishna consciousness.
What makes this Katha an achievement for ISKCON is the fact that Sikkim is a Christianity predominated state with very stringent laws against activities like preaching and book distribution. Yet, by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and Radha ParthasarathiJi, ISKCON Gangtok which was only started in October 2016 is making waves of Krishna Consciousness in the state.
Jai Srila Prabhupada, Jai Jai Nitai Gaurachandra!
