The Atlanta Temple, his family and friends will be coordinating the funeral service of Harish das. With the passing of our dear friend Hari Kirtan das aka Harish, we stop to pray to the lord for his safe journey home.
The service will be on Saturday the 28th of 2009 at 2pm at the Wages & Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, Ga. The service will start with a visitation and last respects to Harish, followed by the funeral service and cremation of the body. After the service there, everyone is welcomed to go to the Atlanta temple. The service will continue with bhajans, and prasadam. The following day will be the memorial service, injunction with the regular Sunday program at 4 pm.
There will also be a 24 hour bhajan session on June 5th 2009, at the start of the Atlanta Temple Panihati Festival. Harish loved to be part of bhajans, so we will honor him with bhajans by friends and family.
We are working on getting his mother and younger brother flown in from India. Although we may not be able to get them here in time, we are trying our best the fill the wishes of his mother, Harish was the sole bread winner for his family, so his friends have set up a fund to help his family. Vedasara das, Uttam das and Jagannatha das have set up this fund so that Harish’s wishes of taking care of his family will continue. We ask that if you are able, to please help any way you can. We have been informed by the Medical Examiner, that the cause of dead was in fact, one shot to the left side of the head. Death was instant. The case by the Fulton County Police Department is still being investigated. There are two men wanted in the connection of his death. Surveillance video shows the men clearly, and it is the hope of the police that someone will call and give them information to that will lead to the arrest of the two men. The news stations here in Atlanta are trying to keep the case in the spot light as much as possible.
With the passing of a dear friend and family member we all ask for prayers and support for those who knew him. Although we pray that he is in a better place, we know that his family and friends will need the support and understanding of everyone.

My sons, Drdhavrata, Raktak and Devala, had the fortune to attend Mayapur Gurukula at the same time Harish was there.
My husband and I met him on a few occasions and were impressed with his gentleness and sweetness. Harish was especially kind to Devala, sensing that it was difficult for him to adjust to ashram life.in India.
Harish was physically strong and had the body of a Mister Universe. He could whip anyone’s butt in Akshaya’s jujitsu classes but never bullied any of the boys. He was quite meek, sober and humble and always had a smile for everyone.
It’s sad to lose such a wonderful devotee.
