Pujari Training Course at the London College of Vedic Studies (ISKCON-London)

Sri Sri Radha-Londonisvara are some of ISKCON’s famous Deities, in fact Srila Prabhupada’s Lilamrita recalls the story of Their installation with great affection.
Therefore as a result the Deity worship department at our Temple is always striving to serve Their most beautiful Lordships with ever increasing love and devotion. One way in which this endeavour is manifest is through constant training. As such, we recently held the course ‘Introduction to Pujari’, facilitated by the our Head Priest HG Murli Manohara dasa.

Some of the key topics covered were:
– Cleanliness
– Punctuality
– General standards
– Etiquette
– State of consciousness while serving the Lords

The course spanned two days and covered the above subjects and much more. Attendees were guided through the principles of Deity worship, how the journey begins before the altar, with training covering the ‘acaman’ process and how to prepare one’s consciousness for this intimate service.

The course was so highly anticipated that it attracted devotees who were brand new along with well-seasoned members already doing Pujari service for up to thirty years!

The attendees presented many questions which were always expertly addressed by the speaker; topics were relevant to both home worship and that of the Temple. All the participants left feeling enlivened and enthusiastic to serve to a greater capacity with more clarity on procedures and the philosophy behind the seemingly unlimited ways in which we can render personal service to Their Lordships.

The London College of Vedic Studies (www.facebook.com/londoncvs) serves as the educational department of ISKCON-London, offering a wide range of educational, spiritual and practical courses, seminars and workshops aimed at developing character, personal fulfilment and spiritual progression.
