Bhagavat Ashraya Das: Congratulations on this significant milestone. As Maharaja says, he has dedicated himself to this project every day for the rest of his life. Let us all pray that there are many, many, many more days, weeks, months and years to the rest of this life.
I cannot recommend this page highly enough to anyone and everyone. Keshava Bharati Maharaja reading Srila Prabhupada’s books on a daily basis is a dream come true for all busy devotees who have it hard to find time to sit alone and read anything. When you consider it, you can’t read, silently or aloud, if you can’t hear. Even the ability to read comes from the ability to hear and we all begin to read by hearing. Reading silently is an abstraction from reading out loud and only the best of us can really absorb information and retain it by reading silently, what to speak of staying awake!!!
This can become a fantastic basis for Krsna conscious group activity too. it’s another form of kirtan, if you want it. A form in which Krsna reveals His from, qualities, pastimes and philosophy in a very powerful and penetrating way. You don’t need to be any kind of materially qualified person to do this. All you need is to hear from the master kirtaneer, Keshava Bharati Maharaja.
And, as for Keshava Bharati Maharaja, well, it’s hard for me to find the words to describe the depth of his love for, faith in and dedication to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Prabhupada’s books. For the sake of these things this man has walked through fire, been dragged over concrete suffered humiliation and discouragement like few others in the Krsna consciousness movement. But still, like the most tolerant and humble, he remains steadfast and unassuming in his commitment to the words of his spiritual master. He reads with clarity and innocence, in the most endearing and absorbing way, not imposing himself with a desire for self-aggrandizement, so that the meaning, even when seemingly unpalatable to one’s state of ego, is acceptable, even to the most proud and wounded among us.
