A Birmingham book distributor’s story:
Book distribution around the coastline of Bournemouth and Poole Harbour was something I’d been wanting to do for a long time. I appreciate the British coastline – it’s so beautiful and peaceful. Every time I visit this coast, I ask myself, why isn’t there an ISKCON centre anywhere near this beautiful beach? I guess nobody there has ever read Krishna conscious books by Srila Prabhupada. So, I followed my heart and decided to distribute books around the coast of Bournemouth and Sandbanks beach. I prayed that at least one fortunate soul would take a book and read it. I really thought it would be a difficult task to distribute Prabhupada’s books there, but I was amazed by the number of people who accepted the books. It was easier to talk to the holidaymakers as they weren’t in such a rush to get anywhere and they were a bit more relaxed – some people were happy to talk and hear about the books, while others just looked through the books. One person was really fascinated by the pictures in The Science of Self-Realization and wanted to learn more. Some people took at least one or two books and gave a donation. So, in four days I distributed 32 books. It was a challenge, but I knew I wasn’t on my own. The few people who took books were definitely in search of some spiritual knowledge.
