Street Chanting Goes To Another Level
“…this sankirtana or street chanting must go on, it is our most important program. Lord Caitanya’s movement means the sankirtana movement. You may simply take two hours for chanting sixteen rounds daily, two hours for reading congregationally, and balance of time go out for sankirtana. We must do both reading books and distributing books, but distributing books is the main propaganda.”

Iskcon Orlando devotees, who have been performing regular Harinama, chanting on the streets of Downtown Orlando for the past few years, found their experiences climb to the next level. This past Saturday during the Harinama program, a family group, visiting Orlando, became overly attracted by the Harinama party. They danced to the music to their hearts content. Then one devotee approached them with books, and this wonderful family bought quite a few books including two hardcover Bhagavad Gita’s and gave a generous donation. While we thought that was the expected end of our exchange, one of the curious members of the family asked the devotee, what was on their forehead. After they received the explanation, they inquired, “If they can also have tilak on their forehead?” Interestingly enough the same devotee who distributed them the books, was carrying a tilak set with her! She applied tilak to all the family members, and they couldn’t seem to be any happier than ever.
The power of street chanting can never be underestimated!
