WHAT: Security Preparedness Community Meeting
WHEN: 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, November 16, 2019
WHO: Mr. Kirby Wedekind, Protective Security Advisor for the Department of Homeland Security
WHERE: Alachua Learning Academy Cafeteria
Many of you are aware of the recent increase in “active shooter” events in many different places and venues. Unfortunately, places of worship have not been immune from these attacks, which have recently occurred in churches, and synagogues. While the chances of such an attack in any one particular location are remote, it is better to be properly prepared for anything, including attacks, natural disasters, or any emergency situation.
The Temple Security Team has been taking guidance from experts at the Department of Homeland Security and will be studying and implementing ways to make the Temple and devotees safer. However, there is much that each community member can do to help. We are holding a security awareness meeting from 10am to 12pm, on Saturday, November 16th. Mr. Kirby Wedekind, Protective Security Advisor for the Department of Homeland Security, will be presenting topics critical to each member of the New Raman Reti community, including:
• Active shooter preparation and response. What you should do in an emergency situation.
• Reporting suspicious behavior. We need everyone’s help.
• Working together to keep the devotees safe.
We invite everyone to attend.
