Kirtan Fest India Online has begun on May 10th, and is live everyday from 9 am – 9 pm. The festival will continue till May 16th. We are so grateful to all the devotees and volunteers who have been coming together on facebook everyday from different parts of India and abroad for one single purpose: To serve the Holy Names.

We are delighted to have many expert kirtaniyas in the Fest. HH Lokanath Swami, HH Bhakti Prem Swami, HG Madhav Prabhu, HG Param Prabhu and HG Gaurmani Mataji and family, devotees from 24hr Kirtan team of Vrindavan, devotees from Sri Mayapur Dham. HH Gopal Krishna Gosami, and other senior devotees are scheduled to go live too.
In only 2 and a half days, almost 2000 people have signed up to be members of the Festival on our facebook page!
All the kirtan slots (almost 200 of them) were snapped up and scheduled with our online signup sheet within a few hours of the first day. Fortunately, our admins kept a few choice slots in reserve. Now some of the most senior devotees, along with exceptionally talented kirtan leaders are being scheduled. HG Yasomatinandan Prabhu, the Temple President in Ahmedabad, praised the festival, and made a special appeal for a slot for his temple.

It is simply amazing to witness how people from different backgrounds, age groups, gender, caste, cultures can be united in Kirtans. The festival is seeing participation from kids, teenagers, youths, elderly, couples, men, ladies and old. Entire families are coming together to hear and sing together in kirtan. We celebrate each and every one’s presence.

In a letter to Kurusrestha – Bhaktivedanta Manor 23 July 1973, Srila Prabhupada mentions:
“I can understand your concern about the deterioration of the civilization. Yes, the city will be more dangerous place as Kali-yuga advances. It will be very deteriorating. The modern civilization is so corrupt and as sinful activities are more and more committee, the people will be forced to face more troubles, by nature’s order. Our business, however, is simply to take shelter of the Hare Krsna Maha Mantra and pray to the Holy Name to give us protection. We shall be unaffected by all that will happen. Krsna will provide us with working facilities. Be assured of this, that the devotees will be protected by the Holy Name. Others will have to suffer in the days that are coming.”

The ISKCON Harinam Sankirtan Ministry was appointed this year by the GBC. In one of their first initiatives, the Ministry is organizing the first online Kirtan Fest for ISKCON India from 10th May – 16th May, 2020 from 9am-9pm on facebook.

This is an opportunity and invitation for thousands of devotees to stay connected with each other even under this lockdown period through participating in non-stop 12 hour kirtans everyday.
The online event is organized as a yagya and prayer for the welfare of all living entities during this corona pandemic crisis in India and other countries.
As of 9th May, total recorded cases in India have been 60,000 with millions in stress and affected especially due to economic turmoil.
We believe that by satisfying Krishna through chanting of holy names is the best welfare activities of everyone. Holy names are the ultimate source of shelter in all situations. We wish to extend this grace to as many people as possible under the present situation.
Through this event, we as a community, also wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to tens of thousands of doctors, nurses, police, government officers and all others who put aside their own safety to protect those in need.
It’s the first online Kirtan event for whole of ISKCON India. The event is inspired by the recently concluded online Festival of the Holy Names organized in Alachua, USA by many second generation Hare Krishna devotees and was attended by more than 45,000 members.

There will be online chanting from 9am -9 pm everyday. The festival will conclude on 16th May, 9pm
Confirmed kirtan singers at this point include; Lokanath Swami, Madhava Prabhu, Gaura Mani Devi Ji, Swaroop Damodar Prabhu, and Ekalavya Prabhu.
Many more are being invited including Kadamba Kanana Swami, Agnidev Prabhu, Sacinandan Swami, BB Govinda Swami, Indradyumna Swami,Madhava and their confirmation is awaited.
