Gopal the special Sankirtan devotee

by Administrator / 4 Jul 2020 / Published in Recent Media  /

When lockdown started, I was sad, and I missed the temple so much. I don’t like online stuff, or using Zoom. I kept chanting all day because I like chanting, and it made me feel a little better about not being in college. I do play mrdunga and sing very loudly in my loft with the windows open every day, and my neighbours say they enjoy it.

One day Parasuram sent me some free meals. I decided to take them to everyone I know. I take Prasadam daily to many of my friends, also Woodfield School staff, doctor’s surgeries, VB & Sons Supermarket, garden centres, and lots of households on my street. I also deliver to a homeless man on crutches called Dave, who lives in a van in the Radlett area. He is very grateful for the food. Not only this, but I also go to deliver the food to lots of elderly people and single parents who really benefit from the healthy food during these strange times.

As I have autism, I have difficulty finding good opportunities for work experience and contact with the wider community. Parasuram has really helped me by allowing me to work with the Food For Life project. I have been able to develop my communication, organisational skills, and has made me feel like I have something more to offer my community. This is all helping me to develop my independence skills, and my sense of belonging. The project is perfect, because the meals are delivered straight to me, which makes it really easy for me to then be able to go and distribute the food with my carer.

I’m so very happy to play my part for Food For Life, and I am grateful to Parasuram for giving me the opportunity. Thank you.

Gopal lives in the U. K. and has been a Sankirtan devotee all his life. His mother is Priti Laxshana dasi. Gopal distributes Prasad to 80 people daily, with the help of his career.

My dear King, although Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults, there is still one good quality about this age. Simply by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom.
