About Cintamani Devi Dasi
Chintamani dasi was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in May of 1969 when he came to Columbus, Ohio for the Allen Ginsberg event.
From Columbus, she was one of the few devotees who went with Srila Prabhupada to New Vrindavana, when he went on his first visit to the original farm. She stayed there for the month he was there and got to do personal service for him, such as clean his room.
She moved to the La Cienaga temple in Los Angeles, got married and went to help Sudama and Bali Mardana open the first temple in Japan in the autumn of 1969. Srila Prabhupada visited Japan twice and she got to help cook for him at that time.
Sudama took sannyasa in 1972, so Chintamani went to help two other devotees open the temple in Manilla.
Her main service has been sankirtan, cooking and deity worship, and she still has the Lord Jagannatha deities that Srila Prabhupada told her to worship. She presently lives in a temple house by the Detroit Iskcon center
