HH Gopal Krishna Maharaja’s health is stable and has not deteriorated in any manner after the first night in the hospital environment. His temperature is 98.2 degrees and the Oxygen Saturation 96%. All his vital parameters are in general, stable and this is a good sign. Last night’s sleep was satisfactory but there was some persistent coughing. Maharaja often says that he has been coughing since childhood! We await the results of the chest x-ray during the day for a more detailed diagnosis on this. Maharaja honored Prasadam and is chanting his rounds. He is extremely embarrassed that we are sending these updates and stated, ” I am not such an important man, please don’t send these updates!”. However, keeping in mind everyone’s anxiety we will continue to provide you more updates.
In general, Maharaja’s health is stable and he is in active spirits and communication; however, we need to be extremely alert and monitor the progress over the next 48 hours. Kindly keep up the prayers, chant more rounds, more attentive rounds, perform sankirtan, chant prayers like Narasimha Kavaca, Gajendra Moksha etc, pray to your local deities and above all, if you can, try and offer your additional japa of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra for his health. After our last update at 3.30 PM, Maharaja’s health continued to be stable. He bathed and honored Prasadam and continued to chant. In the meantime, the members of Maharaja’s Health Care Team and some other doctors felt more confident with the possibility of Maharaja moving to a hospital for further investigations and tests.
As mentioned in the previous update, the hospital is definitely a better option in terms of the facilities available for a more professional, comprehensive and sensitive care for Maharaja. So Maharaja, along with one of his Brahmachari assistants has now shifted to the Fortis-Escorts Hospitals where one of Maharaja’s disciples is serving as a Doctor and so we have greater access to communication and medical support besides better personal care and attention.
The team is in touch with him constantly, virtually every fifteen minutes or so to ensure that he settles down comfortably. Maharaja, as is his usual self, is very meticulous and thorough in his attention to detail and has been checking with us everything over the phone, himself! He is well stocked with his own medical kit and all reports and is on top of it, as you would expect him to be! After all the investigation and tests, Krishna willing, Maharaja should be returning to ISKCON Delhi in 3-4 days.
In the meantime, as always, please continue your sincere prayers for his quick return to normal schedules and the robust pace he is known for. Many thanks for the love all of you have for Maharaja, as reflected in the hundreds of enquiries and anxious queries we have been receiving all day.
