ISKCON of Alachua proudly presents “The Faces Of Grief” seminar featuring two highly experienced women in the field of grief support, Janaki Devi Dasi and Kamala Radha Devi Dasi. Both have phenomenal resumes regarding grief and the related fields of trauma care, death preparation and care, addiction recovery and more.
Grief comes in so many forms. As individuals, families and communities we encounter grief as a result of an extremely varied array of experiences.
We pray to meet you at the heart of this universal human emotion in all its complexity. Perhaps, together we can learn something to help guide our own healing and to become of better support to others experiencing loss.
Janaki joined the St. Louis temple in 1981. She has been engaged in many services over the years including book distribution, teaching Sunday School, Child Protection Team member and board member of the NACPO. She has a master’s degree in social work and is a licensed clinical social worker and clinical addiction specialist. She specializes in trauma work. She is also a certified instructor for the Right Use of Power. Janaki has been involved with Vaishnavas CARE since 2014 and was trained through Duke Hospice to facilitate grief support groups.
Kamala Radha is a member of Vaishnavas CARE. She has assisted Sangita dasi and Vaishnavas CARE in training seminars. She is a death doula and assists devotees in end-of-life activities, such as, formulating their final wishes, helping people and their families transition and accept the last stage of life, preparing devotees’ bodies for the final journey, and even bringing their remains to their final resting place in the Holy Dhama. She currently serves in social media and co-facilitates online grief support for Vaishnavas CARE with Janaki. She is a meditation instructor and is pursuing a career in Interfaith Chaplaincy.
