Iskcon Vrindavan: Here in Vrindavan, there is everything available for spiritual life: wonderfully fragrant flowers to offer to the Lord, countless temples to visit and serve in, mounds of maha prasadam, ecstatic kirtans full of enthusiastic bhaktas, myriad cows to feed and cuddle, and endless parikrama paths. But for the thousands of people living in Braja, especially the devotees living in Krishna consciousness, following the principles laid out by Srila Prabhupada, it’s been a difficult task to secure and ensure the future of their children with the right education, especially during the child’s early development, when it’s most crucial and important to provide them the right direction and environment to formulate and cultivate the right attitude, ideas, mindsets, skills and attain proper growth in Krishna consciousness. We’re often a bit stymied to find even the basics in this endeavor, but no more. With the establishment of “Krsna Balarama Community Day School” these children have a chance to learn in Krishna’s own school and step out into the world fully equipped with knowledge, wisdom and Krishna consciousness.
At the Krishna Balaram Community day school, we encourage critical thinking and in-depth examination of just about everything, no chapter-after-chapter rote memorization for our learners! Teachers spend time and energy developing interactive tasks that motivate and inspire children to engage themselves fully in the process of growing and acquiring information, and if somehow children cannot participate properly, discipline comes in a calm, encouraging manner. We give special focus on our ‘Play to learn and learn to play’ program in which children are taught values, skills and virtues through competitive, interactive and collaborative sports.
“Learning to play and playing to learn” is one of the most important parts of our approach to essential training and skills development with positive competitiveness, and challenges children to learn to be strong in the face of hardships. And when they are shy of achieving their goals, they learn to collaborate, and also realize their own potential, strengths and weaknesses through competitive sports and traditional games. By tapping, harnessing and nourishing their potential, we help them grow in a natural environment stronger and brighter to face the world with confidence, courage, conscience and most importantly a positive attitude, a mighty heart, a super healthy mind and big smiles on their angelic faces.
Towards this endeavor we are in most urgent need of providing a comfortable and convenient place for them to play and learn and a playground with the best amenities, sports facilities and enchanting environment with trees laden with fruits and flowers and fountains of clean water just maybe the perfect place to begin with.
These are Krishna’s own children and we love them with our hearts and souls. They are the light of the world to come and we must protect, nourish and educate them in the best way possible but we can’t do it alone, we need your whole hearted constant help and support.
