Bhagavat Katha conducted by His Grace Devaki Nandan Das, Zonal Secretary,UP and Rajasthan ( including ISKCON Allahabad)
A week long spiritual discourse on Teachings of Queen Kunti,composed by His Divine Grace A C BhaktiVedanta Swami Prabhupada was conducted at the bank of Sacred River Yamuna in ISKCON Allahabad, located in Balua ghat, March 11- 17.
These teachings conform to Canto 1, Chapter 8 Texts 1 to 26 of Srimad Bhagavatam which is considered as biography of Krishna, and non-different from
and non different from Krishna- considered as the Supreme Persdonality of Godhead. In simpler words, the literary incarnation of God appears in form of a sacred book, Srimad Bhagavatam.
“Queen Kunti’s teachings are the simple and illuminating pitpourings of the soul of a great saintly woman, revealing the deepest transcendental emotions of the heart and the deepest philosophical and theological penetrations of the intelligence.”
His Grace Devaki Nandan prabhu summarized the entire 118,000 verses (slokas) of Srimad Bhagavatam in seven days by presentiong the chanting of holy names and observing four essential principles” non-violence by observing no meat eating; abstaining from addiction- by not drinking wine, beer, alcohol or tea coffee and not even coca cola; not indulging in illicit relationships- being happy with married life; and controlling the greed by not participating in lottery or gambling.
President of ISKCON Allahabad His Grace Adwaita Acharya das appreciated the
presence of His Grace Devaki Nandan das and requested him to support the new
construction of the Temple , Guest House and Accomodation for Priests besides
enlarging Goshala – cow shelter shed for about 18 cows. The plans have been approved
by the City of Allahabad authorities, and projected cost amounts to Rs 4 Crores.
A donation of Rs one lakh and eleven thousand one by Industrialist Madhusudan
Agrawal of Ajanta Pharma, based in Mumbai was well received by Temple
authorities for the pleasure of presiding deities Sri Sri Radha Veni Madhava.
The Guest House will accommodate 200 visitors from all over the world during the
forthcoming Maha Kunmbh Mela in 2013.
The importance of Allahabad is because of Lord Rama’s visit twice in Treta Yuga, and
about 500 years ago, Lord Chaitanya’s teaching of devotional science to Srila Rupa
Goswami for ten days at Dashaswamedh ghat- where Lord Brahma performed first
ten sacrifices in early millennium. Founder of ISKCON and BBT Srila Prabhupada
spent 13 years in Allahabad and had his business Prayag Pharmacy established here.
The weeklong preaching ended with a community dinner, Bhandaraa, blessed food
served to over 2,000 devotees. It consisted of pooriees, rice, dahl, sabji and a sweet
rice dish.
