Saga of Distributing One Thousand Srimad Bhagavatam

August ;Year 2020

“Please join in the Bhadra Purnima Marathon and your target is One thousand Srimad Bhagavatam,’’ H H Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaja spoke to me over the phone on the eve of this auspicious occasion. My instant reaction was of surprise; ”it’s a lifetime target, Guru Maharaj ji”, words were out of my mouth. But then I sought his blessings as in my heart I had full faith in his words . These words from him were not bereft of empowerment. This was the month of August , year 2020 ; the Pandemic year ; everybody had been locked down in their homes for months at a stretch .

My mind told me immediately ,“its too high to achieve in the near future. How can this be achieved ? In normal days it would have been tough .. and now in Pandemic it seems next to impossible..”

Mind was at its job ;sending messages to my brain.

Totally inexperienced in the distribution of the Srimad Bhagavatam I had my fears and doubts.The firm belief in the words of my spiritual master worked as the food for my determination.

His words have always been my life and soul and I pray them to remain so till eternity.

My services

The pandemic had put a halt to all the preaching activities. As the lockdown was announced in India and we all were house arrested with no association with the outside world; life became hard. Especially for devotees whose sole job was to be a soldier in the army of Srila Prabhupada.

It’s true “Where there is a will there’s a way.” Sri Krsna residing in one’s heart guides according to one’s desire.

By the grace of the Supreme Personality I resorted to social media to carry on my preaching activities as this was the only hope. Facebook and Youtube being the only medium. I had to overcome my shyness of facing the camera while addressing my invisible audience. For twenty years I have been interacting with hundreds of faces live in gatherings. Sitting in front of the camera and narrating the verses of the Bhagavad Gita with their deep meanings to unseen faces was indeed a difficult task. After a few talks the hesitation started melting away as a large number of people started logging in to my narrations. The live chat and comment section filled with queries that haunted them all. Soon the numbers of audience started multiplying as the purports of Srila Prabhupada gave solace to the burning hearts of the people. The fear filled minds were finding comfort in the message of the scriptures.

The sessions were on a daily basis and sometimes twice daily that included a class on Srila Prabhupada . I had named this session as”Fifteen minutes with Srila Prabhupada.” Acquaintance with the Founder Acharya of International Society For Krsna Consciousness was vital for the participants journey to the spiritual world. A big percentage of them had never been to ISKCON Temple or centre. Their familiarity with the devotee lifestyle was giving them relief from the anxiety around them.

I named my new family “Lockdown Family.”

Now it is renamed “Peacefood Devotional Family”. (“Food for the soul and mind is ‘peace’; that’s available in the association of devotional members. This was the reason to name it so)

The family members number to thirteen hundred on my ‘’whats app’’ and on my Youtube nearly six thousand.

My Request

I broadcasted in my “whats app groups “ and “Youtube discourses” a humble request for the marathon and asked them to welcome a copy of Srimad Bhagavatam to their homes. The response was overwhelming. The enthusiasm was simply flabbergasting. All in the devotional family from all over the world were excited to be a part of the spiritual marathon. A deed that would bring them closer to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Before the deadline the Peacefood family had done nearly four hundred Srimad Bhagavatam Sets. The year 2020 Bhadra Purnima was celebrated with the distribution of Four hundred and ten Bhagavatam sets. Along with the Bhagavatam Marathon the devotional family did Six thousand five hundred Bhagavad Gita during the Gita Marathon.

We thanked Sri Krsna. Despite the adverse conditions prevalent in the world the efforts paid well.

Bhadra Purnima 2021

The year 2021 Bhadra Purnima marathon came and the group members were eager to accomplish the target of one thousand Srimad Bhagavatam ; the orders of Guru Maharaja had to be fulfilled. With the passing of a year there were new additions to the devotional family. All were enthused with the fire of preaching. One slogan all had : Get/Gift/Donate a Bhagavatam. The blessings of the Lord was empowering all members ; all over the world. Their hard work was yielding wonderful results.

The Peacefood family Thirteen thousand three hundred Bhagavad Gita in the year 2021 . The Peacefood family group distributed Six hundred and twenty five Srimad Bhagavatam. The amazing Book Distribution could only be possible with the motivation of HH Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaja. I with my devotional family could fulfil the desire of my Spiritual Master of distributing One thousand Bhagavatam Sets; the target I had been asked to accomplish.

The target that seemed so unachievable; so distant… could be achieved.

It was the mercy of the Supreme Lord.

Truly speaking the Book Distribution is the backbone of spiritual advancement.
