By Sita Pati DasOn the spiritual platform there is no difference between a brahmacari, a sannyasi, or a grhasta who is attached to the service of the Lord.
By Sita-pati dasBrisbane's Hare Krishna Community is doing their part for the city's ongoing water shortage, taking to the streets of the city's suburbs to chant and dance to bring rain. Australia is currently in the most severe drought in recorded history, with various levels of water restrictions in major cities and a deepening crisis in rural areas.
By Sita Pati DasGiving class is also kirtan. Here is a 5 page comic book that I wrote last year about giving a class or presentation on Krishna Consciousness. Of course, the principles are universal, so you can use them for whatever you do.
By Sita-pati dasHi Folks, check out my new e-book on the subject of Leadership: "On Leadership", available from www.atmayogi.com. In this 30 page e-book I examine two Leadership paradigms and discuss their applications in ISKCON.
By Sita-pati dasOn the subject of "devotee maintenance", we have to continue to forge ahead with creating a proper social structure in ISKCON. We need to "redefine the classic concept of devotee maintenance". We all need to start giving charity to brahmanas as a matter of duty.
By Sita-pati dasIn 2001 I was asked to take a leadership role in an ISKCON yatra in South America. At the time I had received no formal training in leadership or management and I quickly realized my inadequacy in discharging my assigned duty.
By Sita-pati dasFor first time visitors excessive cartal racket makes the experience of the kirtan more like a rock concert. Trying to project over the sound of cartals can cause the entire kirtan volume to rise to excessive levels.
By Sita-pati dasFor me, personally, the definitive Prabhupada take on chocolate comes from an anecdote recorded in one of H.H. By Sita-pati dasAt the time of death our bhajan will be tested. I think we will be lucky, and we will see everything taken away before the moment of the physical death of our bodies. At that time our bhajan will be tested.
By Sita-pati dasThe mission of ISKCON News.Net is "to generate momentum in fulfilling Srila Prabhupada's seven purposes for ISKCON through information sharing". The vision is "more nectar than you can drink". The editorial policy is: "We don't care what you think, until we know what you do".
By Sita-pati dasThere is a growing sense of unease about the effectiveness of our current preaching paradigms in Western cities. The rising number of ads calling for pujaris, cooks, and preachers to reinforce existing ISKCON temples is a visible indicator that recruitment from the general public has slowed down drastically.
By Sita-pati dasAs both Krishna-kirti prabhu and His Holiness Danavir Maharaja went to some lengths to point out in their articles, there is nothing wrong with congregational members honestly maintaining themselves through teaching hatha yoga outside of ISKCON owned facilities, and at the same time using it as an opportunity to bring people in contact with Krishna Consciousness.
By Sita-pati dasAs I consider myself "within ISKCON", I consider that what I do is "within ISKCON". The teachers at our yoga school are a mixture of initiated grand-disciples of Srila Prabhupada and aspiring grand-disciples of Srila Prabhupada who have been introduced to ISKCON through association with the devotees who teach there.
