HG Tejiyas Das: Little Sarasvati, always busy busy busy, had been collecting odds –and-ends, and set-up a make-shift temple, on the end of the verandah furthest from Srila Prabhupada’s room. In Calcutta in 1972 Śrīla Prabhupāda was on a morning walk with many brahmacārīs. Some of the brahmacārīs complained that the women also lived in the Calcutta temple on Albert Road. One brahmachārī said, "Śrīla Prabhupāda, sometimes women do not cover their heads with sari." and "Why can't women find a place other than brahmacārīs? Srila Prabhupada: Even if we vegetarian are, then how you become big? The goats are vegetarian. Huh? Apadāni catuṣ-padām. This vegetable is meant for the catuṣ-padām, for the animals, four-legged animals. If somebody says that "Why shall I take this vegetable? It is meant for the animals. I shall take the animal." That is a good argument. Yes. So, to become vegetarian is not ahiṁsā at all. It is a bogus theory. To become a devotee and take Kṛṣṇa prasādam, that is perfect. Kṛṣṇa says, patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati

Sacinandana Swami: Once there was a lady in India called Kamabai. She lived in a small straw hut and materially speaking she was very poor. However, she had strong love for our Lord, Jagannatha, in her heart. Every morning before the Lord received His over 30 food preparations from the first-class priests in the temple, she cooked a simple stew called kitchari which traditionally consists of rice, beans and if you have enough money also vegetables. It is easy to digest and the main food of the money-less.
