Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita is the main work on the life and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the incarnation of Krishna who appeared in India five hundred years ago. Lord Chaitanya introduced the chanting of the holy names of God as the prescribed method of God-realization for our time. He began what is today called the Hare Krishna movement, since the movement’s founder, Srila Prabhupada, comes in the Chaitanya line of spiritual masters.

Krishna Kshetra Swami is, since 1972, a disciple of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. From 1973 to 1975 he distributed Shrila Prabhupada’s books and served as a pujari in Amsterdam and Schloss Rettershof, Germany. Between 1977 and 1979 he traveled and preached with Bhakti Tirtha Swami, Harikesha Swami, Bhakti Sudhir Goswami, Dvarakesha Prabhu and Devamrita Swami throughout eastern Europe. From 1982 to 1985 he oversaw Lord Nrisimhadeva’s worship in Simhacalam, Germany

In Vrindavana in the year 1537 Sakabda Era [A.D. 1615], in the month of Jyaistha [May-June], on Sunday, the fifth day of the waning moon, this Caitanya-caritamrita has been completed.
