By Vaishnava dasSrila Prabhupada asked a devotee, ‘can you quote the verse?’ They could not. Srila Prabhupada said, “Just see - you are not reading my books. You have to read my books and you have to study and learn my books just like a lawyer learns the law books. You must know everything chapter and verse. If you do not know, how will you teach these men unless you know my books.

By Sita-pati dasAs I consider myself "within ISKCON", I consider that what I do is "within ISKCON". The teachers at our yoga school are a mixture of initiated grand-disciples of Srila Prabhupada and aspiring grand-disciples of Srila Prabhupada who have been introduced to ISKCON through association with the devotees who teach there.

By Devaki devi dasiAnd I boldly say the Counselor System gives us the formula how to turn every yatra into Vaikuntha! Maharaja's personal example of taking care of Krishna’s devotees, of tirelessly preaching about the need of the counselor system within his zone, and finally compiling this wonderful book will no doubt gradually create a revolution within the hearts and minds of many devotees worldwide--exactly what ISKCON needs the most at present!

By Chaitanya Charan DasThe silly point is that we protest about the star shown as a smoker, but not about the same star being shown as a drug-dealing gangster or an underworld don. When movies blatantly exhibit sex, rape, addictions, crime, violence and murder, and when movie stars are today’s perverse role models, isn’t it silly to be shocked when the same happens in society?

By Danavir GoswamiWe find a growing conception among uneducated devotees that ISKCON's success depends on not rejecting any type of so-called spiritual ideas. This monstrous misunderstanding needs rectification. Srila Prabhupada wanted multitudes to enter the open doors of Lord Caitanya's loving sankirtana house, yet all unauthorized misconceptions and bogus practices carried by the members were to remain outside.

By Kavicandra SwamiWe have a very interesting story of how Rupa Manjari devi dasi became a practicing vaisnava. She graduated from the university majoring in political science. She had a serious drug problem while studying, but due to some accident she gave that up, that is when she started to believe in God.

By Kesava Krsna dasaLet us suppose a Spiritual Master tells a disciple he wants to rest due to tiredness, and requests the disciple not to wake him up under any circumstances. Let us also suppose that after some time, the president of the country comes quite by surprise and asks for an audience with the Guru. Is the disciple going to ask him to wait and apologize profusely, sticking rigidly to the order?

By Srimad Gour Govinda Swami MaharajaI am not qualified, but when my Guru Maharaja gives me a task I should make myself qualified, otherwise I will lose what I have. Krishna is like a brightly burning effulgent sun. If you do not deserve, if you don't qualify yourself, how can you remain before this blazing sun? You'll be burned to ashes. First, qualify yourself.

By Giriraj SwamiOur relationship with our spiritual master, our relationship with Krsna–these are eternal. We might be in brahmacari-asrama for some time, we might be in grhastha-asrama for some time, and then we may enter vanaprastha-asrama, and in the case of some, sannyasa-asrama. Those are external, and those are part of the gradual process of purification.

By Hector DiegoDid you know that Harrison's Something was actually written about Lord Krishna? George changed he to she in that song so that people would not misunderstand what he was trying to say. Unfortunately I believe it is just taken as a beautiful piece of music. And Here Comes the Sun was George's way of singing about how his meditation on Krishna had cleared up some very dark periods in his life.

By Payonidhi dasThis Krishna consciousness movement, before starting, I wrote one letter to Mahatma Gandhi: "Mahatma Gandhi, you have got position. People accept you as a very pious man. Now you have got your sva-rajya, and you are very fond of Bhagavad-gita. Let us preach Bhagavad-gita."

By Shyama - sundara DasaNow that Vedic astrology has become popular in the West many Western trained astrologers are attempting to fuse the two systems or introduce Western concepts such as the trans-Saturnian planets into the Vedic system. Over the years some Indian astrologers have also attempted to introduce these planets into Vedic astrology.

By Chaitanya Charan DasThe modern media with its vivid depiction of violence portrays anger as a heroic quality, as the quintessential psyche of the macho man. But is it really? Most people recognize that in real life anger is not a pleasant emotion, yet they savor the violent scenes in the movies.

From the Mediator's Sanga ConferenceThe only real possession for a devotee is whatever sincerity they can muster up in Srila Prabhupada's service. And even though the person criticizing may not be questioning the other's sincerity, it is often taken that way. The result: We feel discouraged, we sometime lash back at the critic, and often we think: "I'm doing all this hard work, and all I'm getting is questioned and criticized. Is it worth it? Is serving in ISKCON worth it?"

By Kumari Priya DasiReligious life imparts to us the vision to see everyone as, in essence, a beloved servant of God. Yet so often the differences between religions underline a feeling of “the other” that turns those who should be friends into enemies. What often follows is behaviour that may not seem very religious at all.

By Tamohara dasa It is said that the Lord's merciful energy is subordinate to His willing power, but in the case of Sriman Mahaprabhu it is the reverse. Mahaprabhu has granted this independence to his krpa-shakti. Mahaprabhu would not have distributed His prema, the most confidential secret, to one and all indiscriminately, if He had not given this independence to His krpa shaktri.

By Chaitanya Charan DasMost people pray to God when they want something which is beyond their human ability to get. While praying, we often intuitively try to feel and express humility, knowing we depend on divine grace. To receive God’s answers to our knee-mails, we need humility – especially in our brain.
