Hearing the song of KášášŁáša’s flute, the peacocks dance, and all the other creatures become stunned when they see them. Demigoddesses traveling through the sky in their airplanes are vexed by Cupid, and their garments become loose. The ears of the cows stand on end as they drink the nectar of this flute-song, and their...

The gopÄŤs declared, “To see Lord KášášŁáša playing His flute while taking the cows to pasture is the highest perfection for the eyes. What pious activities has this flute performed that enable him to freely drink the nectar of ĹrÄŤ KášášŁáša’s lips-a blessing we cowherd girls find difficult to achieve? “It is by great fortune that one comes to Krishna consciousness on the path of bhakti-yoga to become well situated according to the Vedic direction. The ideal yogi concentrates his attention on Krishna, who is called Shyamasundara, who is as beautifully colored as a cloud, whose lotus-like face is as effulgent as the sun, whose...

“Krishna is known as Madana-mohana because He conquers the mind of Cupid. He is also known as Madana-mohana due to His accepting the devotional service of the damsels of Vraja and rendering favors unto them. After conquering Cupid’s pride, the Lord engages in the rasa dance as the new Cupid. He is also known as...

“Krishna is never conquered by anyone, but a devotee can conquer Him through devotional service. As stated in Brahma-samhita (5.33): vedesu durlabham adurlabham atma-bhaktau. One cannot understand Krishna simply by reading Vedic literature. Although all Vedic literature is meant for understanding Krishna, one cannot understand Krishna without being a lover of Krishna.” (Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya 4.137,...

“The supreme abode of the Personality of Godhead, Krishna, is described in the Brahma-samhita as cintamani-dhama, a place where all desires are fulfilled. The supreme abode of Lord Krishna known as Goloka Vrndavana is full of palaces made of touchstone. There are also trees which are called ‘desire trees’ that supply any type of eatable...

“When the transcendental sound of Krishna’s flute is heard, the devotee’s anxiety to continue to hear that flute enables him to penetrate the covering of the material world and enter into the spiritual sky, where the transcendental sound of the flute enters the ears of the followers of the gopis. The sound of Krishna’s flute...

By Dr. Richard L. ThompsonAlthough not an advocate of creationism, Sadaputa Dasa (Dr. Richard L. Thompson) demonstrates in this lecture that most evidence for the evolution theory also supports the theory of intelligent design. And since Darwinism leaves so much about human nature unexplained, he suggests we broaden our view and approach alternate outlooks with an open mind.

“It is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita that the purpose of Vedic knowledge is to find Krishna. And it is said in the Brahma-samhita that it is very difficult to find Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, by systematic reading of the Vedic literature. But He is very easily available through the mercy of a pure...

“Dear Lord, when You appear in Your different incarnations, You take different names and forms according to different situations. By Matthew LearningMy spiritual adventure in Krishna consciousness was, and still is, life-altering and life-enhancing. It showed me that God is very, very real. I attribute it all to the Hare Krishna mantra, Krishnaâs blessings, following the precepts and principles, studying the language of Nature, God and the Vedasâand by being humble to the pure path of Bhakti. So much of this was made available to me in the past 18 months thanks to John Griesser, his spontaneous Facebook message, and my watching his brilliant film.

“No one can appreciate the beauty of Krishna by properly discharging his occupational duty, or by austerities, mystic yoga, cultivation of knowledge or by prayers. Only those who are on the transcendental platform of love of God, who out of love engage in devotional service, can appreciate the transcendental beauty of Krishna. Such beauty is...

By Sankirtana DasThe Hindus who visit our Krishna temples perceive ISKCON as an orthodox movement, appreciating the traditional temple service and how beautifully the altars are maintained. Many of our western friends might appreciate the Krishna movement differently: as a modern and relevant movement which advocates vegetarianism, honors the Earth, and offers meditation through joyous singing and dancing.
