    Hare Krishna.
It would be good to hear what happens to all the polystyrene plates and cups etc, and why dont the Hare Krishna festival programme invest in some plates and cups that are sustainable????? Plenty of good green sustainable products to choose from.
I am surprised that in 2022 the Hare Krishnas are still using unsustainable plates etc.

Dear Dusyanta Prabhu, Hare Krishna ,
Sorry we haven't met since 1991. Fortunately Polystyrene is unavailable in the main stores these days , it's really frowned upon.
No matter how wonderful our preaching is, it will fall on deaf ears if we don't walk the talk, seeing the Divine Nature is the "First Step in God Realisation" ,SB 2 canto. Our eco efforts won us the U.K. Novellis Recycling Award 2008 and Sustainable City Award 2007. We played a major role in Glasgow at Cop26, and are the official cooks for the whole Green Gathering Festival next month. I have a unofficial partnership with the biggest international climate activist group that we don't publicly announce. The recent Queen's Award would not have happened but for our robust eco initiatives. HH Janananda Swami is on a GBC committee dealing with polystyrene issue, presently it is not banned in ISKCON, just highly recommended not to use it, let's ban it, your servant Parasuram Das wwwfoodforalluk.com

    Hare Krishna Dusyanta prabhu,
Thanks for your suggestion, I'm not sure how you have managed to conclude that the serving plates were made of polystyrene (maybe the shape and colour are deceiving) but this is not the case. Our festival team, in partnership with the Food For All prasadam experts (Parasuram prabhu – as above mentioned) were one of the first ever food outlets to use wooden spoons at this event almost 20 years ago and have used only compostable disposables for well over a decade – even before it was made compulsory by the festival organisers. ys, Giri
