15th Annual
Indian Akhanda Sankirtan

Symposium on Cultivation of the Human Spirit

Saturday, 14th September
6AM in the morning -until- 7PM in the evening.

The event will be hosted, as in previous years, under beautiful garden tents at the residence of NIOS’ President, Dr. Ravi P. Singh and his good wife Meena Singh. The residence is located at 2129 Stratford Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.

~The Akhanda Sankirtan, although quite rare in these Western countries is very common in India. With contemplative and melodious tunes, and accompanied by traditional Indian instruments, participants chant the Names of God without pause or time for any other thought to enter. This will go on from 6AM until 6PM, although in some Temples in India it has been going on 24-hours a day since time immemorial with the greatest peace and satisfaction.

~The Symposium on Cultivation of the Human Spirit has been going on for many years and has enjoyed participation by excellent representatives from Humanist, B’hai, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and other groups. While formed as an educational corporation in Tennessee, Murfreesboro, in 2004, most of NIOS’ big successes have been abroad. To name just two, NIOS has a formal agreement to develop Festival of Classical India Culture (Bharatiya Sanskriti) with San Marcos University in Peru. San Marcos has over 45,000 students and is internationally reputed in medicine, law and sociology and is, along with the University of Mexico, the oldest University in the Western Hemisphere. In India NIOS recently organized a three day seminar on The Contribution of Classical India Toward Making a Better World. Mukunda-kam Sharma, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of India and two former Governors of Bengal inaugurated the much lauded event.
What should NIOS do in the next ten years? What are The Goal and the Means? NIOS has every desire to contribute to the excellent MTSU, Vanderbilt, Catholic, Muslim and other communities in this local area. Please come for stimulating and practical discussion on this theme from 3:30PM to 5:30PM.

~A sumptuous Indian Vegetarian Feast will be served for one and all at 6PM.

Event is FREE for anyone interested in cultivating the human spirit. For more information you are very welcome to call Ravi or Meena Singh at (615) 896-3425 or Academic Chairman, Professor Huber Hutchin Robinson (Hanumatpresaka Swami) at (209) 505-3219.
