Lakshman (das) Vrindavan (IN): With the blessing of Krishna Balaram,Radha Shyamsundar, Gaura Nitai, Srila Prabhupada ISKCON’s Vraja Mandal Parikrama 2013 will start this year from Oct 18th till Nov 17th. This is 27th years of Vraj mandal Parikrama. The Parikrama will leave from Vrindavan on Friday 20th October after mangalarati at 5:30 am. The participants are requested to reach Vrindavan at least Oct 19th. We invite everyone to join in the auspicious Kartika (Damodar) month for Vraj Mandal Parikrama.
Sri Chaiatanya Mahaprabhu start the sankirtana movement. He walked throughout India chanting the holy names and dancing in transcendental ecstacy. Srila Prabhupada also adopted the same way of spreading the holy name throughout the world. In his life, Srila Prabhupada had circled the world 14 times and had introduced millions of people to Krishna Consciousness abroad but he was eager to revive it in India. He wanted his devotees to travel to different villages and spread Krishna Consciousness.
To expand his mission further and to spread the holy name in a more widespread manner, HH Lokanath Swami started the Vraj Mandal Parikrama 27 years ago, in the year 1987. During the Parikrama, devotees from across the world visit the 12 forests of Vraj dham. It is a transcendental expedition, a month-long journey not only through different villages and towns of Mathura but also a journey on the path of clearing the garbage of anarthas filled in people’s hearts. Not only seeing, staying, and touching the Dham purifies one’s soul, but also Srimati Radharani, personally forces devotees to pull out their deep-rooted weeds of material enjoyment. One learns the basic principle of ISKCON i. e. ‘Simple Living and High Thinking’. Furthermore, the parikrama helps devotees to fix their minds on their whole and sole purpose of life i.e. devotional service. The hardship that the devotees face during the yatra pleases Krishna immensely.
