From Banana Leaves to Gold Leaf

March 14th saw the first post Gaura Purnima Prasadam Distribution outing by the MOMS Mayapur team. Setting out a little after 3pm and journeying to Sardangha, passing along the way the beautiful Jaganannath temple at Rajapur the weather was perfect, a few degrees over 30, no wind and strangely for Mayapur little humidity.

Within minutes of passing the Jagannatha Mandir we were into a very quiet rural setting with no sign of life. Nonetheless our driver pulled off the road and parked at the end of a wide expanse of grass surrounded by trees and we started to set up for our distribution. Hardly a minute had passed before there were hundreds of locals lining up for the Lord’s mercy! Not sure if it was word of mouth or the hot kitchari communicating directly through the sense of smell but it didn’t matter, our customers were all in place!

An hour or so later there wasn’t a scrap of prasadam left and we all packed up and headed back to home-base as the sun was setting on another glorious day. As we approached Mayapur the final rays of that day’s sun were just reflecting off the impressive dome of the temple of the vedic planetarium. From simple village life to one of the most wonderful structures in the world, quite amazing.

The MOMS team on the day were;

Ananga Mohini dasi (Mayapur)
Arjuna Pran das (Mayapur)
Ghanashyam das (Mayapur)
Goloka dasi (Dublin)
Hansarupa das (Alachua)
Jagannatha das (Mayapur)
Jayanti dasi (South London)
Nabhinandan das (South London)
Praghosa das (Dublin)
Syama dasi (Mayapur)
Vinode Manjari dasi (Radhadesh)
