We have a vacancy to be filled in our temple in Cardiff, UK, and are inviting applications to fill this role.
Please note this role is only available as service – we cannot give any wage for this position.
The details of the position are as follows:
Title : Female Congregation Development and Community Interaction Officer.
Role Description : To facilitate the development of the cohesion between the female congregation and resident community of devotees. To lead preaching programs at the temple. To interact with the non-Hindu community (i.e. Schools, Universities, Government Institutions) with the aim of promoting understanding between themselves and our community. To do whatever is necessary for the development of the project.
Pay : This role is only available on a voluntary basis. There will be no pay but the devotee will be able to stay at the temple and all prasadam and clothing will be provided.
Qualifications : The devotee must be strictly following all the regulative principles and is preferred to have 2nd initiation. They must have been a fully practising member of ISKCON for 10 years and served at an ISKCON project for at least 2 years. They must have experience of interacting with congregation members and be able to relate to our congregation – i.e. a UK based congregation. They must have experience in leading and organising kirtans for a variety of functions and events. They must have experience of the workings of educational and/or government institutions. To be able to fulfil these roles they must have excellent English language skills.
Duration : the position is full-time for the foreseeable future and we require a commitment of at least 12 months to begin with, but ideally as a long term (3 years +) role.
Notes : As the only accommodation we have available is the female ashrama, and that there will be no pay, only those applicants who will come alone can be considered (i.e. you cannot bring a spouse). Also as the devotee will be expected to attend the full morning program starting with Mangala Arati at 4.30am.
