(A message from the BBT)
By BBT staff
Madhudvisa Dasa–no, not the original Prabhupada disciple, but the one who got going sometime in the 1980s–has started a new website.
It aims at selling Bhagavad-gita As It Is with razzle-dazzle ad copy. You know the kind of thing: “10 Amazing Secrets! Never Before Revealed! Completely Risk-Free!”
He’s trying to sell books, and that’s good. We wish him well.
Kind of silly, though, that he thinks he needs to lie about the publishers to do it.
You see, he thinks he has to tell his prospective customers that back in the 70s some bad guys “secretly” edited the book, hiding its meaning, so that now you can find out those amazing true secrets only in the “original edition” that he’s selling and the original publishers won’t let you have.
Well, that’s an “amazing secret” right there. (That is to say, a silly little fib.)
As most devotees know, the BBT publishes both editions of “Bhagavad-gita As It Is”–both the old one (the 1972 MacMillan edition) and the new one, the one that fixes hundreds of errors and brings the text closer to what Srila Prabhupada originally said.
And both editions are readily had at the http://www.thekrishnastore.com/Page.bok?template=Shops_BBT_1
Anyway, as we said, we wish Madhudvisa well. May he sell lots of books.
