By Friends of Vrindavan
The endeavors of Friends of Vrindavan in waste management have started to bear fruits as people watching it closely is contributing to strengthen its hands to serve the holy abode of the Lord. The Sheetal Group of industries, manufacturers of the plastic items has specially designed a plastic molded rickshaw and donated it to FoV, for segregated waste collection. The rickshaw has separate chambers for different types of waste. The recycling of waste has a systematic approach that goes beyond just segregate-reuse-reduce-recycling. The traditional waste management practices are environmentally devastating. Therefore the technology of vermi composting for sound waste management and recycling strategies has been adopted in the FoV run waste management projects. The concept also offers many benefits with no negative attributes. The production of vermi compost on large scale basis will not only replace the fertilizer but also give sustainable character to our agriculture. The marketing of manure has been already begun.
FoV needs two more such rickshaw for the areas where its projects are being replicated. Each rickshaw costs Rs. 17,000 (Approx. US$ 400). The project also requires support to put a hand made paper unit for sustainable development in the field of waste management. So, we earnestly solicit liberal contributions from kind hearted noble personalities and institution to support us in our endeavors. The donations made in USA and in India are tax exempted.
