Ratha Yatra Lisbon (Portugal) 2017.
Over the last decades, International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has been presenting an attractive spiritual festival of ancient India to millions of people all over the world. Ratha Yatra is the biggest street festival organized by ISKCON. Literally meaning Festival of Chariots, this festival celebrates Krishna’s return to His home in Vrindavan, after a long period of separation from His friends and relatives.
The Ratha Yatra festival has been celebrated for thousands of years in the holy town of Jagannatha Puri, India, and more recently has been presented every year in many big cities of the world.
This year, ISKCON will celebrate, in collaboration with the Lisbon City Council, the second Ratha Yatra Festival of Lisbon in accordance with its mission to spread spiritual knowledge and promote the culture of peace.
After the success of the last year’s magnificent first Ratha Yatra, we once again bring this ancient tradition to Lisbon, which has harmoniously brought together many different communities.
Come and experience the catchy rhythm of the percussions and beautiful dances in a stunning set of lively enthusiasm and joy. Join us in chanting of maha-mantra Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
The Ratha Yatra procession starts at 4pm on 9th of July in Largo do Intendente towards the final destination in Ribeira das Naus, where starting at 7 pm a festival will conclude in a form of various activities, music, dance and in distribution of delicious vegetarian food.
