Gaura Purnima Festival 2008 Inaugurated!

With the hositing of flag, Gaura Purnima festival is officially inaugurated on 6March’08. In a colorful ceremony in the morning after darshana arthi, Srila Prabhupada , Garudadeva deities and Sri Gaur-Nitai deities from Bhajan Kutir were brought in a Sankirtan procession to Lotus Building Park where the flag hoisting took place. Matajis accompanied the procession carrying water pots and lamps. It was more exciting for the visiting Russian devotees to see how local Bengali matajis were vibrating uluating sounds and expert in blowing conch. Exhilarating Kirtan by Lokanath Swami surcharged the atmosphere with festive mood. Gurukulis were chanting Vedic mantras invoking auspiciousness. Gopal Krishna Maharaja hoisted the flag, officially inaugurating the festival amidst a roaring kirtan.

Much awaited arrival of Lakshmi Priya in Mayapur!

Lakshmi Priya, ISKCON Mayapur’s new resident arrived on 7th March in Mayapur. After a few months of following procedures to get clearance for Lakshmi priya, our new elephant finally made her way all through from Assam to West Bengal. Hari Sauri prabhu was announcing the updates on her arrival everyday during festival announcements. There was a loud Haribol from the Mayapur devotees when it was announced that she is finally arriving in Mayapur.

Main stage Cultural program or evening of devotional entertainment during Gaura Purnima festival is always a favorite for festival visitors. Bhakti marg Swami’s dramas have evolved as a part of festival over the years. In a very short period of time, he has encouraged and trained Mayapur youth to put up a sensational performance, ‘Kunti & Karna’. Drama chronicles on the mixed emotions displayed by Karna and Kunti, expertly supported by apt dialogues and scenes.
