We were invited to help at a huge evangelical event at a stadium. We have been cooking for the “Feed the 5,000” events all over Europe for the last decade and now we were going back to the original roots – this event would be Biblical! The organisers visited “Krishna’s Castle” saw our operation, loved it, so off we went.
I was a little hesitant in the back of my mind, being obviously Hare Krishnas in appearance, people could mistake us as religionists, but as we arrived that morning we were greeted with a loving cheer. Dozens of people came to help unload the van and start chopping veg.
Before long the pots were filled with the delicious “poor man’s feast, fit for a king”, then our team started making puris, pakoras, and poperdoms. I am convinced that distributing this type of delicious Prasad can change the world. People from all walks of life love it.
The people at this event were very sincerely seeking God, we made loads of friends, from the humble pot washers to the celebrity speakers.
“Just like Lord Jesus Christ. He was being crucified. Still, he was saying, ‘My father, they do not know what they are doing.’ Is it not? He is so much compassionate that ‘These rascals do not know what they are doing, rascals. Still, I request You to forgive them.’ This is Vaisnava. Personally he is suffering, but he is still compassionate.” — Srila Prabhupada
I though I would include something from their own invitation posts, as how different it is from our own invitations:
“We have launched an exciting FREE event called Joy@KemptonPark happening 10am Sunday 17th June at Kempton Park Racecourse.
In a nutshell following a prompt from God we have stepped out and are undertaking a huge evangelism event at Kempton Park. We have a great line up of worship bands and Andrew Palau from the Luis Palau Association is flying over to share his testimony and preach the Gospel. Our very own Bishop of Kensington is coming to close the event it prayer. This event is a Kingdom building event and we want to see people come to know Jesus. We also want to see people who already know Jesus to have their faith fired up.
After the morning celebration we will be attempting to feed the 5000, using the supermarket surplus food that would usually go to waste. Like the celebration itself this is way beyond our own capabilities but we are praying that Gods provision and glory will be seen. We want to highlight the huge food poverty that exists and the huge food waste that exists alongside it.
This whole event has been done in faith – Kempton Park have given us their venue FREE. Only God could have done that. At every opportunity God has provided us with what we need……”
