Dharmashala district jail program – India (12th August 2018) (Album of photos and videos)
On the 12th of August 2018, we had a wonderful sankirtana in Dharmashala district jail.
You can see the jail deputy superintendent Vinod Chambail and family, they are chanting very nicely.
Around 25 prisoners took japa mala and committed to chant japa. Also, many B.Gitas and Krishna books were distributed.
There was a lot of discussion on drug addiction.
The Jail superintendent is a staunch devotee of Srila Prabhupada. He also holds B.Gita classes every Sunday.
When we enter the jail we were feeling just like we came inside the Hare Krishna temple.
We first saw outside (in front of the prison main gate) the jail superintendent Vinod Chambail chanting in Japa Mala with Tilak and Kanthi Mala. (see photos)
As soon as we enter inside the prison house we could hear the very melodious Hare Krishna Kirtan coming from the woman prison cell. The group of women prisoners they chant everyday morning and evening 1 – 1 hour, as also the same with men prisoners.
After that, we approached further the main program hall where 300 prisoners were gathered chanting the Mahamantra very enthusiastically. We could hear the kirtan from outside.
It was a wonderful experience in prison program this time.
