FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers Of Commerce and Industry) Ladies Organization along with women from Inner Wheel Club and Divya Chaya Trust kept their date with ISKCON Food Relief Foundation on the February 28th afternoon. A group of fifty ladies reached the ISO9001:2000 (certified to the international standards) kitchen of the foundation well in time. The world class Kitchen is currently catering 1,25,000 meals every day to approximately 234 schools of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The number is expected to go up to 2,00,000 meals daily, from July 2009.
The facility has state of the art technology having automatic puri making machine, huge stainless steel cookers churning out tons of rice, dal etc . The set-up of the Kitchen has been appreciated as beating 5 star hotels hands down. It has also been awarded the international. HACCP Certification.
A formal welcome was addressed by Mira Goel ,( the chairman of ISKCON Steering Committee and an active member of these associations) along with Mr. Piyush Goel; the chairman ISKCON Food Relief Foundation. After a brief introduction to this great Social Welfare Activity of ISKCON; the delightful ladies full of enthusiasm were escorted around the kitchen .They were amazed to see the modern automated equipments, the cleanliness and the safety measures adopted by the staff.
Eagerness and appreciation reflected on their intellectual faces. They came forward with a hand in hand proposition with the Foundation in the future. A generous gift of rupees one and half million by the Inner wheel group and two Car-Vans to the Foundation exhibited their solidarity.
They completely agreed upon the eminent role of
ISKCON Food Relief Foundation that is committed to the building of a healthy nation by providing food and thus facilitating education for underprivileged children The project aims to provide balanced food to the under-fed School students of Municipal Corporation (MCD). Basic Intent is to encourage the parents to force their children to go to school and improve their intellect. The Foundation has a national presence feeding 14,00,000 children everyday in various states for e.g. Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh etc.
Government of Delhi and UN World Food Programme are providing the financial and technical support to the Foundation.
It is a strategic program to liberate the underprivileged children from the scourge of hunger and malnutrition. This program is a project of the Government of India, and is being implemented by ISKCON Food Relief Foundation with great sincerity.
