Tribhuvanatha Prabhu Appearance Day Festival & Harinam (16/11/19) (Album of photos)
Tribhuvannatha Prabhu, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada appeared in 1952 in Longford, Ireland as Thomas Kevin Heggarty. Within a short time of reading Prabhupada’s books, he moved into the temple in late 1968 a few weeks after his 16th birthday – making him one of the first devotees made in the UK. By seventeen, he was a well-respected devotee and was well known for his many skills in Krishna Consciousness, and his strong dedication to Harinama Sankirtan. For some time was the temple president of London temple – Bury Place at the young age of 17, making him the youngest temple president in ISKCON. He shared many exchanges with Prabhupada in the UK. He was the first person to be in charge of Bhaktivedanta Manor. He opened a temple in Edinburgh and arranged large Hare Krishna preaching festivals all around the UK. He then spent some years in India and traveled to the Middle East where amidst heavy fighting he arranged the first Arabic Publication of the philosophical classic Bhagavad-Gita as it is before being held captive for a month in Beirut. Later he revived the preaching festivals around the UK and also returned to Ireland where he stayed for five years looking after Inish Rath Island temple. During this period he also opened a cultural center in Dublin. 1995 saw the first big festival tour in East Africa where he lead a group of devotees around Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in a big bus. It became an annual event with huge crowds attending the free festivals. A temple was consequently opened in Kampala city, Uganda, expanding to include a nearby farm project and school. He also inspired the opening of a second school in Kisumu, Kenya where many poor street children were given food, shelter and education. He left this world on 16th October 2001. At the end, when his body was frail, his spirit and insight shone stronger than ever. His two wishes were that the festivals would continue and that devotees would care for one another. Right up to the last he was meditating on the orders of his spiritual master and the welfare of others.

A huge turn-out followed on from a hall programme earlier in the day attended by around 40 devotees. The harinama sankirtan started at the ISKCON-London Radha Krishna Temple and proceeded along London’s famous Oxford Street before continuing on down Regents
Street where the Christmas illuminations had been switched on.
The devotees then performed the usual Saturday Night Harinama Sankirtan route in reverse beginning from Piccadilly Circus to China Town and Leicester Square before zig-zagging back through
Soho to the temple where prasadam was served.

This is very sweet. Thank you for sharing. Bravo to the dedicated members of the Hare Krishna Festivals UK team headed by Giridhari Prabhu for working so hard to keep the original spirit of our movement alive and well in the UK. It's so nice to see the devotees gathering together in a loving and co-operative mood to chant the Holy Names in honor of our dear godbrother, Tribhuvanatha Prabhu, on the anniversary of his appearance.

Srila Prabhupada wrote the following to Tribhuvanatha who tried his best to follow Prabhupada's instructions:

"I was very happy to hear of your Hare Krishna Festival program and that the response has been so wonderful. Simply by giving people a chance to hear this wonderful Hare Krsna mantra and Krsna's philosophy as stated in Bhagavad-gita, so many people will become interested and actually they will join us. The poster you have enclosed is very nice and attractive. So continue this program of Hare Krsna Festivals all over the United Kingdom and in this way attract people to Krsna Consciousness."

(Srila Prabhupada Letter, December 15, 1974)

The staunch devotees in the Hare Krishna Festivals Team UK are sticking to the winning formula:

"It is important that we preach the message of Krishna Consciousness exactly as we have heard it from our Spiritual Master. The same philosophy and spirit must be there exactly."

(Srila Prabhupada Letter, January 23, 1969)

Davaid C, your photos and slideshow are wonderful. Sri Sri Radha London Isvara are looking as beautiful as ever. Thank you for sharing such exquisite transcendental photos and joyous chanting on your soundtrack for our spiritual benefit and inspiration.

A job well done by one and all. Thank you very much. All glories to your service.
