Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances _/\t_. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

We are very happy to report that against all odds, Grahila prabhu has been making steady progress in the last week and his health is improving to the point that his doctor is saying that he may recover his normal health within one month.

He is making a comeback against all odds and this is certainly due to the merciful well-wishes and prayers of the devotees, and the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Radha Madhava.

Please continue to pray for his full recovery and many years of further service.

Grahila prabhu has also advised that any donations should not be sent by PayPal because they have just decided to end their operations with Indian bank. Any funds sent via PayPal will bounce and the sender will be charged $11.00 rejection fee. Kindly therefore send any donations directly to his India bank account:

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances _/\._. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

This is a furthur update on Sriman Grahila Prabhu. His doctor Tulasi dasi reports that yesterday Grahila prabhu suffered a significant deterioration in his health with some fits and other difficulties. According to her observation he may only have some few days left. Of course by Krsna’s mercy there is always the possibility of improvement.

We therefore request the prayers and well-wishes of all the devotees for Grahila prabhu’s successfully taking shelter of the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada and Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Everything is in Sri Sri Radha Madhava’s hands and whatever They desire will be done. We can all pray that They extend their full mercy to Their servant.

Your humble servant, Hari-sauri dasa

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances _/\ò_. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

We would like to present this update on the health of Sriman Grahila Prabhu, who most of you will know has advanced leukemia.

For the last two weeks Grahila prabhu has been mostly confined to bed. His physical condition has deteriorated and he has found it difficult to eat or even drink. He now requires constant prfessional bed care and assistance.

Three days ago Srimati Tulasi dasi (Dr. Vineeta Sharma) from Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mumbai arrived in Mayapur to supervise Grahila prabhu’s medical care. Somehow during the last two days he has gained some energy and improved to the point where he can sit up and even walk to the bathroom and there is some hope for further improvement. However, medically his condition cannot be treated, and the only medicine he is taking is symptomatic i. e. if some immediate difficulty manifests, some medicine is given in response to that particular problem. Other than that, the only other medicine he is taking is a small amount of steroid each day.

The main medicine Grahila prabhu is depending on is the Holy Names and the mercy and well-wishes of the Vaisnavas.

If any devotee would like to help Grahila prabhu in this very difficult time that would be most welcome. He and his wife Guru Seva dasi have very limited funds and there are on-going expenses.

Since Grahila prabhu needs 24hr. care Dr. Tulasi mataji has recommended that at least a professional male nurse be hired to give some night time relief to Guru Seva mataji. This will cost approx. Rs. 200
($5.00) per day; a further Rs. 10,000.00 ($220.00) has been spent on medical equipment to cope with any anticipated contingency; a water or air bed is needed to prevent him developing any bed sores due to his confinement; the doctor’s airfare needs to be covered; and other on-going expenses are likely to be incurred.

Many devotees have already stepped forward to help this dear disciple of Srila Prabhupada and great service can be rendered by anyone caring to offer some support.

For those who would like to make a direct gift, Grahila prabhu’s banking information is as follows:

Paypal address:

garya@pamho.net

Local Bank transfer:

AXIS Bank
12 MM Ghosh Street Krishnanagar, Nadia, WB 741101 India

SWIFT Code: AXISINBB005 Account number: 237010100026761 Account Name: Gary Steven Aleksiewicz

Note: The SWIFT Code will most likely give a Kolkata address. That’s OK, even though the account was opened in the Krishnanagar branch.

Further information can be obtained by contacting the Mayapur Community Sevaks (MCS) on MCS.Office@pamho.net

As always your kind prayers and well-wishes for Grahila prabhu are solicited and welcome.

Your humble servant, Hari-sauri dasa

Dandavats to His Grace Grahila Prabhu. His mundane journey is coming to an end, much as Parikshit Maharaj knew that his passing was imminent.

Some things to help. First, Prop pillows under the calves of Prabhu to keep pressure off his heels. Roll him from side to side every hour or two, propping him with pillows to prevent excessive pressure buildup on any one side or back. Keep one or two pillows between his knees.

Without eating or drinking, death is imminent usually within a week or so from dehydration. Whatever you do, do not force him to drink laying on his back in a semi-alert state…the fluid to go into his lungs and cause asphyxiation and death. Have him sit up at least 30-40 degrees to drink or eat as possible.

Regarding the nighttime care, it would be very nice if some of the other men, brahmacharis or householders could take turns attending to his needs at night. It is a privilege of service. “Love me, love my dog.” An expression we heard Srila Prabhupad use.

I hope these few words will help with some care for our godbrother.

    Sincerely,

    Pusta Krishna das…MD
